Our farm is located in the Coachella valley of California, about 30 minutes from palm springs. Almost all the dates grown in the USA are grown in our corner of California and Arizona, where temperatures in the summer routinely hit 118-degree F, which the palm trees love. An old proverb states that date palms like to have their "feet in water and their heads in fire". The first resource on the list is the Coachella Valley Date Organization, "Dates Are Great". The USDA has some nice info on date nutrition. The FAO has some excellent info on date production worldwide and also info on date nutrition. The US Dept of Agriculture put out an excellent booklet titled "Growing Dates In The United States". Enjoy.......
