OUR FAMILY AND COMPANY
We are a small family owned and operated farm in the heart of the Coachella valley near Palm Springs, California. While we are not certified organic, we are committed to a sustainable farming model, using less water and all-natural farming aides to deliver the highest quality fruit. We only use organic fertilizers and compost to provide nutrients to our dates. Most of the water for the dates comes from our "sister" fish farm on site. In essence we are getting two crops from the water, fish and dates, with the added bonus that the water from the fish has nutrients beneficial for the dates. Every step of the farming process, from planting to harvesting to packing, is done by hand. Our first date palm offshoots were planted in 1999 when they were just four feet tall. Now measuring in at well over twenty feet, the palms have been producing quality fruit and offshoots for years. We harvest the palms in the fall after a summer of ripening on the tree before cleaning and storing the fruit by hand. The dates are then stored in a freezer to preserve freshness all year round. |
